My Journey to Affordable Housing in the UK
Upon arriving in the UK as a Nepalese student, finding a place to call home became my top priority. With determination and a tight budget, I set out on a journey filled with ups and downs. Firstly, I reached out to fellow Nepalese students already living in the UK through Facebook groups. Their advice and suggestions helped me discover neighborhoods with vibrant Nepalese communities and leads on available rooms and shared flats.
Turning to online platforms like Facebook groups and specialized websites such as Rightmove and OpenRent, I found a wealth of options. The support I received from the facebook online community was heartening, with fellow Nepalese offering assistance and sharing their own experiences. Yet, it was the personal connections I made with my countrymen and friends settled in the UK that truly guided me. Their stories and recommendations provided comfort and assurance throughout my search.
You know, my search for housing wasn't just about finding a place to stay. It was about finding a community where I could feel at home. I prioritized neighborhoods with Nepalese amenities, like grocery stores and restaurants serving familiar dishes like momos and dal bhat. In the end, amidst the challenges of finding shelter, I found a sense of belonging—a place where my Nepalese identity was cherished and embraced, making my new life in the UK feel like home.

We Need to Talk About Mental Health in Our Nepali Community
Hi community, I want to tell you about something really important. Being part of the Nepali community here in the UK, we hardly ever talk about mental health. We're always told to be tough, to keep our problems to ourselves. But here's the thing – life's not easy, especially when you're a single mom
